Padmanabhapuram Palace (25 kms)

Reminiscent of the illustrious Travancore Dynasty of Kerala, Padmanabhapuram Palace is indeed a once in a lifetime experience. Built in wood, the palace was built in 1601 and is a classic example of Kerala architecture. The palace still evokes emotions of awe and respect in us when we walk through the corridors with murals, floral rose carvings and black granite floors and the intricately built majestic interiors. Reportedly, the oldest palace in India, it is indeed a marvel of Indian heritage.

Muttom Village & Beach(40 kms)

Muttom is a beautiful rustic village in the Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu. Known for its beach where there are several rocks and caves, it attracts a huge number of tourists every year. This beach is known as one of the best sun set point nearby. A harbour is under construction on this beach.

Pechiparai Reservoir(14 kms)

Pechiparai Dam was designed and built by the British chief engineer Humphrey Alexander Minchin. The reservoir stands across the Kodayar River below the confluence of the Kallar, Chittar and Kuttiyar tributaries. It was the Travancore Maharaja Moolam Thirunal who was the ruler during the construction of the dam.

Thripparappu Waterfalls(4 kms)

The river bed is rocky and about 300 feet in length. The water falls from a height of nearly 50 feet and the water flows for about seven months in a year. The whole bed above the falls is one rocky mass which extends up to a distance of about quarter of a kilometer upstream where the famous Thirparappu weir has been constructed for supplying water to the paddy fields. On either side of the river, on the left bank of the river in between the water falls and the weir, there is a temple dedicated to Siva enclosed by strong fortification. The District Administration has constructed a swimming pool for children over here which is very popular among the children.

neyyar dam(21.9 kms)

Neyyar dam is a gravity dam on the Neyyar River in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, South India, located on the foot of the Western Ghats about 30 km from Thiruvananthapuram.It was established in 1958 and is a popular picnic spot. Lying against the southern low hills of the Western Ghats, Neyyar Dam has a scenic lake.

CHITHARAL JAIN TEMPLE(14 kms)

Chitharal is located about 45 kilometers away from kanniyakumari. It is famous for the Rock-cut temple. Hillock at Chitharal has a cave containing Rock-cut sculptures of Thirthankaras and attendent deities carved inside and outside dating back to 9th Century A.D. King Mahendra Varman was responsible for the Jainism influence in this region. It was converted into Bagavathy Temple in the 13th Century A.D. Cars and Vans can go upto the foot of the hill. One has to walk for about 10 minutes to reach the temple. The Jain images have been preserved by the Central Archeological Survey of India.

Mathoor hanging bridge(15 kms)

The Mathoor Hanging Trough is the tallest as well as the longest trough bridge in Asia, having a height of 115 feet and a length of one kilometre. Constructed in 1966, this bridge has become a place of tourist importance and hundreds of tourists visit this place. This is situated in Mathoor, hamlet of Aruvikkarai revenue village in Thiruvattar Panchayat Union.

Kanyakumari(66 kms)

One of the most beautiful districts in the whole of India, Kanyakumari with a vast expanse of farm land and an absolutely spectacular beach has a varied topography with the sea on three sides and the mountains of the Western ghats bordering it. Placed in between the Western Ghats and the Arabian sea, it is the only district in Tamilnadu which overlooks the Arabian Sea.

The beach at Kanyakumari is internationally famous for its sunset, the coloured sand and its engulfing beauty. On the shores stands the temple of Devi Kanyakumari, the presiding deity, a destination with a never - ending flow of devotees. A majestic monument in memory of Swami Vivekananda stands on a huge rock down the sea by the beach. Boat services from the inland take you to this spectacular masterpiece of architecture. Another attraction is the new Thirupathi temple, which is a magnificent destination worth visiting. Considered as the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari beach gives you a fascinating view of the meeting of Indian Ocean, Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal.
